New features and enhancements to RMLSweb are implemented regularly, including during our monthly scheduled outages.
Here are some of the changes we implemented in February to improve the site for subscribers…
Map Checked Switched to Bing Maps
RMLS™ is continuing to switch its map systems over to Bing Maps, and this month we’ve integrated Bing with the map checked feature of RMLSweb.
This means that when plotting multiple listings on a map for a client tour, the map will match other mapping features on RMLSweb and their enhanced map performance.
This is the third of a series of five rollovers into Bing. Our final two changes will be to switch the Listing Load mapping module to Bing, followed by switching Map Search. Look for the complete transformation in coming months!
RMLS™ Inventory on Desktop
Perhaps you’ve already noticed this new feature on the left sidebar of the RMLSweb desktop: we’ve added a feature showcasing collective listing data. In a glance, subscribers can see just how many active listings are in RMLSweb, the number of sold listings for the last 12 months, the dollar value those listings represent, and the total number of listings in the system. The numbers are updated daily.
Shorter Session Times
Starting this week, subscribers logging in to RMLSweb will be automatically logged out after 90 minutes of inactivity. This is a shorter session time than the site had previously (four hours), but we’re making the change based on some of the initial findings of our unauthorized access project on RMLSweb.
We’ve also got some exciting developments coming soon in March…
We will be adding a new way to contact RMLS™—chat! Access RMLS™ staff online by clicking the chat button at the top of the right sidebar. A chat window will open, and staff will assist you shortly.
Representatives from Help Desk, Training, Accounting, and Front Desk/Membership will be available during normal RMLS™ business hours. During the times when no staff is available, the pop-up window will allow you to send an email, and a representative will be in touch as soon as possible.
Our client-facing website, RMLS.com, will have a new look starting March 5th! We think you’ll like what you see. Besides the new look, consumers will now be able to search listings by either an address or MLS number.
As Gail Hare, Executive Vice President, posted last week, the RMLS™ Board of Directors recently made tablet and browser compatibility for RMLSweb the number one priority for our technical team this year. Look to the RMLS Blog and RMLSweb desktop for updates as that major project progresses.
If you have any questions regarding these changes, email Help Desk at helpdesk@rmls.com or call us at (503) 872-8002, or outside the Portland area at (877) 256-2169.
Thanks for the updates! The only thing I REALLY don’t like is the advertising on rmls.com. It does NOT paint us in a professional light.
Having the advertising on rmls.com helps defray any cost of the site (such as programming time to complete this facelift) and reduces the need to utilize dues dollars. If there is ever a concern about a particular advertiser, don’t hesitate to send me an email or give a call. We have set up policies regarding the types of ads that are acceptable. We want to know if there is ever anything offensive or which would run counter to the interests of our Realtor® subscribers, so that those ads can be removed.
Thank you for keeping us with the updates!! This is great.
These are great improvements; however, the public using the rmls.com still receives active and pending listings in a search. They have no clue of that fact and agents receive very excited calls about listings that are already sold. Why is pending included in the searches at all?
Hi Eva, our Help Desk should be able to help answer that question—I’ve forwarded your question along to them to get in touch!
Really appreciate the updates. I’d love to see the public side, rmls.com become the “tool of choice” for property buyers, rather than zillow etc. I’d like to see rmls.com become as buyer friendly as possible, accompanied by a big marketing effort which focuses on the accuracy, reliability & ease of use of rmls.com vs the competitors. This marketing would include widely seen ads such as on Trimet buses, billboards, etc. We spend so much time talking our clients through all the reasons they should not be relying on the “ZTR” websites due to inaccurate data. Let’s make rmls.com THE BEST search site. Thanks again!
Why does the RMLS listing contract in Listing Load not display the Zip Code of the property in the “Property Address” line at the top of each printed of the contract? This is particularly problematic for short sales, as the short sale lenders see this as “incomplete” information and reject the document. If we subsequently hand-write the Zip Code in, the lender sees this as a modification that then must be initialed and dated by all parties (i.e., Licensees and all Sellers). It seems like this should be a relatively simple fix. Thank you in advance.
I agree with Garett regarding the advertising . The public sometimes perceives Realtor’s in a bad light depending on their experience . I think it is up to us as a group to elevate our industry to a higher standard. The ads look “tacky” and unprofessional. People are there to buy houses sent there by their Realtor and we are offering them a service. I know I don’t appreciate solicitors and pop ups trying to sell me something. I don’t think it is a “professional look” for our website. I
