Maps on RMLSweb are getting a facelift next week—and although they’ll have a different look, features will largely stay the same.
RMLSweb maps, which are currently powered by Microsoft’s Bing, will be making a big change in the coming days. This requires RMLS™ to make some changes to RMLSweb to keep maps on the site up and running.
The new interface is cleaner, easier, and more mobile friendly—but subscribers will notice that nearly all the current mapping features on RMLSweb will remain the same.
Map layers, map shapes, includes, and excludes are still available to target a search. Toggle buttons make it clear when the map is in drawing mode versus navigation mode. Larger buttons, less reliant on text, should make using the new interface easier for mobile users.
The one exception to the features available in this new look? The birds-eye view of maps won’t be available right away, but may return later as Microsoft improves its Bing product.
Map Checked properties will sport buttons to produce driving directions with the image of a car, and printable maps with the image of a printer. List and Map buttons toggle between two views of the same information.
Look for the visual changes to RMLSweb maps starting Wednesday, June 21st on RMLSweb!
UPDATE (June 20, 2017):
RMLS™ trainers have created a brief video (4:50) to demonstrate the new mapping interface.
I’m glad somebody recognized the current map version is definitely not working.
Next project is pdf files printing correctly? Right now they cut off the bottom 1/3 of the page. We have to take the extra step to download the pdf file to print homes correctly.
Thank you.
We’ll have the RMLS™ Help Desk look into the PDF issue!
I have to say….. just joined RMLS and am having quite the problem getting the maps to work….. keep getting error. Also the Quick Start Guide link goes nowhere…..
Are there any tutorials out there?? Thanks!
I would like to know who to contact when there is erroneous information on the maps so that it can be corrected?
You may always email the RMLS™ Help Desk with any concerns on RMLSweb.
An issue I am having is that when you have listings dots on map that are outside your mapped area and you toggle from ‘pan’ to ‘draw’ to include those missing listings, all the listing dots end up being removed from the map. This is frustrating. The listing dots should remain on map when editing so that you can accurately include additional mapped areas.
Thanks for the feedback—I’ve forwarded your comment to the RMLS™ Help Desk and they be in touch with you about it.
The rotatable bird’s eye view is very important to me! How long until it returns?
RMLSweb is so outdated, they need a facelift to more than just the maps!
Update the site, were no longer living in the 90’s!
Thanks :)
When is this going to be up and working . I dont have time for this
The map icon on the Agent Full page produces no results about 60% of the time. Just a blank page within the frame (the car icon, for example) shows up but the picture space is just blank.
I am working, BUT the new Mapping software is NOT. Either fix or give me back the old one so I can at lease get some work done!!!
Having great difficulty getting the new maps version to work at all. Zip code search will not produce a visible map. Trying to search by MLS area gets continuous error messages and will not work. This is causing me to miss appraisal deadlines. PLEASE FIX THIS.
The RMLS™ Help Desk reports many subscribers having issues that can be solved by clearing the browser cache (Control+F5), but I’ve passed your comment along so they can get in touch with you.
This map version worst than previous one. Here is 2 issue I found so far.
1. Not compatible on MacOS, using Safari, Map won’t show partition line
2. neither safari or Google Chrome will show label of house number as advertised
Please correct issue.
1. Layers do not work on Safari MacOS
2. Chrome / Parcel lines do not show house number, only tiny circle dot
I am not seeing Lot lines for properties? The lot lines are very important and I can’t tell where a property begins or ends. Anyone else frustrated with no lot lines?
Haven’t had a printable copy yet. Even Clearing the cash and loosing all browsing history.
This new system is not working for me at all, and is making me less efficient. I cannot get a map that is useful to me. I DO NOT want a map that shows prices and RMLS numbers. Why isn’t there an option to change to a basic numbered pin, as it was before? Why doesn’t RMLS ask members what they need before making these sweeping arbitrary changes to systems that we need to do our jobs?
I would like to echo the issues stated when using Safari. I’m not able to see parcel lines or addresses. This feels like a step back, not a step forward.
For around two years now I have called and given 1’s on RMLS surveys because of the lousy maps. Why did we get rid of the old system in the first place? That one worked fine.
Except for the densely populated metropolitan areas, you will find a great many agents work in rural areas that really depend on parcel lines. As an example, a client may want to see how much timber covers the property.
The parcel lines are non existent or incomplete if the parcel is too big. The lines MAY show up on one viewing, but if you zoom out or in they disappear.
Yes, the parcel lines were not accurate on the old mapping system, (some lines ran through houses or streets). I might point out that parcel lines are also not accurate on Title Co. maps and Assessors maps. But at least they give you a general idea of what the parcel looked like. Now we have nothing for RMLS.
Agents have to go to other sources to find the parcel lines. They have to depend on county maps or make the extra step of asking a title company to make one for me. Again, we’re not asking for the accuracy of a surveyors map, just a general idea.
The former mapping program also had a feature that showed the measurements for each side of the parcel. Very useful information now lost.
* WE don’t need the price on the map. It’s everywhere else.
* We need a map that shows the parcel lines for every property no matter what size, urban AND RURAL.
* If you zoom in or out three or four times, the property lines should not disappear.
* The measurements of each parcel side shown on a plat map would be very helpful too.
Were the parcel lines thrown out for the birds eye view as a trade off? Again, that is more of an urban tool than rural. And yes, I have used it, but it’s not as important as parcel lines.
The new bells and whistles can make you look up to date and on trend, but are often something we don’t really need.
Too bad something that we really needed was perhaps thrown out for them.
Hi Diana,
Thank you for your comments. Parcel lines are still available on the maps, and I understand that on large parcels, it is often difficult to get the entire parcel on the map in order to see the boundary lines. With these new maps, you can now expand the size of the map to the full size of your monitor, and that should help you get the entire parcel on your screen.
We are also at the mercy of our mapping layer providers for a lot of the layer information we display. If the data was available for the more rural areas of our state, we would show it, but we are only able to display what we are provided by our layer provider.
I’m going to have one of our team members from the Help Desk contact you and see if we can’t solve some of the problems with the new map system.
Thanks,
John
The price on bottom and bubble on top of parcel takes up too much space.
Will the partition lines for the properties be added again. Not seeing it on safari on computer or iPhone.
